2D Barcode Scanners

2D scanners, also called area imagers, can capture all barcodes: linear, like UPC barcodes, and 2D, like DataMatrix. Using a combination of digital camera technology and decoding software, a 2D scanner reads barcodes omnidirectionally, meaning the barcode does not have to be turned in a particular direction to be read. An option for some models is the ability to capture signatures and digital images. 2D barcode scanners are becoming more popular due to their versatility and to more industries and applications adopting 2D barcodes.
