Corded linear imagers are connected to a computer with a cable. The common interfaces available are USB, corded PS/2 (keyboard wedge), corded and serial RS232. Some area imagers are also available with terminal-specific connections, corded such as for IBM POS terminals. Corded linear imagers are better for reading damaged or poorly printed barcodes as well as barcodes under plastic film or covering. Linear imagers are ideal for a variety of applications including retail, shipping, receiving, and inventory.
